Pre-Natal Care

All patients should have an established, trusting relationship with a primary care team, who knows them and their health history the best. This is especially true for any expectant mom and why our High Plains providers, in collaboration with Dr. Portner, offers expectant mothers compassionate, personalized and expert care before, during, and after pregnancy.

What does this mean for expectant moms and their families:

Women now have access to pre-natal services, provided by their High Plains' healthcare, team up to 32 weeks of pregnancy.
In the third trimester, care will transition to Dr. Portner, along with all pre-natal records.
Early in their pregnancy, and prior to the transition of care, patients will have the opportunity to meet with Dr. Portner.
Patients that are deemed with high risk pregnancies will be referred to Dr. Portner for specialized care without delay.
After delivery, both mom and baby will return to the care of their primary healthcare team.

For optimal health:
Pre-conception visits are recommended for patients with a chronic health condition.
Early pre-natal visits ensure a healthy pregnancy.
Mom's are encouraged to make an initial appointment soon after confirming pregnancy. Ideally this is within the first 10 weeks of gestation. This will allow your primary healthcare team to order tests and ultra-sounds at appropriate times.

Not sure if you are pregnant:
High Plains offers FREE pregnancy testing to everyone, no appointment needed. You can walk in anytime for a free and confidential visit and are not required to be a patient at High Plains.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please call 719-336-0261. If you are a High Plains patient you can access your Patient Portal to schedule or ask a question. Not registered to use the portal, go to the Patient Portal page and register today or call our office and get signed up for 24/7 access to your health information.
